CBD how can you use the oil?

September 25.09.20

With CBD becoming increasingly popular, the different ways to use it in your routine are continually growing, too. From simply dropping it under your tongue to adding it to your morning coffee, or even putting it in your belly button (yeah, we’re not too sure about this one either!) There are so many options available. It may be that you’re new to CBD and want to find out what works best for you, or perhaps you’re not too fond of the taste or you just want to mix things up and get creative with your CBD. Whatever it is, we’re here to help.

We’ve created a list of options for you to experiment with, so whatever mood you’re in we’ve got you covered. Here’s a look at some of our suggestions on how to use your CBD oil:

Sublingually

This is basically just a fancy way of saying under your tongue. It refers to the ‘pharmacological route of administration’ by which substances ‘diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue’. This is probably one of the most common methods of CBD usage as it’s super simple and one of the quickest ways of absorbing CBD into your system.

To do this, you simply place the filled dropper under your tongue, dispense your desired dose and hold it there for 30–60 seconds. CBD tends to absorb faster the longer you wait before fully ingesting it so maybe play around with it and see what works best for you. Some users may prefer ingesting their CBD faster than others so that more of it reaches the digestive system intact but there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to taking CBD, it’s all about finding your personal sacred routine.

Relax with a CBD bubble bath

Whether you’ve had a stressful day or just need some time to wind down, taking a bit of you-time is so important and, honestly, what’s better than a warm bath to make you feel calm and at ease? Well, a CBD bath, actually. Taking a warm bath not only calms the nervous system, helping to relieve tension and stress, but it can also soothe your muscles and prepare you for an amazing night’s sleep.

Adding a few drops of CBD will take your bath to the next level, giving further soothing relief by slowly soaking into your skin and helping you feel incredibly relaxed. Next time you’re having a bubble bath try adding some CBD oil and perhaps some other essential oils, such as frankincense and lavender, to give you the ultimate calming experience.

Add it to your coffee or tea

Coffee addict? We can relate. That morning coffee to start your day or the midday pick-me-up is heaven when you’ve got a long day stretched out ahead of you. So why not try adding a few drops of CBD to your daily coffee? This way you can reap the benefits of both coffee and CBD combined. CBD coffee is said to make you more alert and focused compared to a regular cup of coffee, lasting a lot longer and minimising that dreaded coffee crash many of us suffer from. Plus, it’s thought that due to the calming effects of CBD, a splash in your coffee may also counteract the potential jitters that can accompany high caffeine intake. That’s what we’d call a win-win.

Tea more your thing? If a cup of tea is part of your daily routine, it could be an easy way for you to get your daily dose of CBD. Similar to coffee, tea infused with CBD could ease those potential caffeine jitters whilst providing a steady, anxiety-free boost. Not only do you get the health benefits of whichever tea you choose, you get the benefits of the CBD alongside it. This particular method could also be great for those experiencing period pain; try adding CBD to a warming cup of chamomile or peppermint tea to help ease those cramps. CBD smoothies

Both delicious and nutritious – what more could you want? Smoothies are ideal for when we want a quick and easy breakfast and can be a great addition for before or after a workout. Just blend together all your favourite fruits and vegetables, top it off with a splash of our magical CBD and you’re good to go! The added CBD could be great for both your physical and mental condition, with potential to assist in alleviating muscle aches and pains whilst helping you maintain focus throughout your day.

Cocktail hour

With its subtle taste, CBD can be added to a wide range of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages without affecting the taste, as well as mocktails if you’re T-total. Why not get your daily dose of CBD while relaxing with a cocktail in hand? Sounds pretty perfect to us. In addition to this, although we cannot confirm or deny, it has been reported that the hangover from CBD beer is not as bad as regular beer, but maybe we’ll let you be the judge of that.

CBD snacks

Whether overnight oats are your thing or maybe some yoghurt and fruit, brighten up your breakfast by adding a couple of drops of CBD to start your day right. You’ll benefit from the soothing effects as they slowly unlock throughout the day. Not a breakfast person? Not a problem. CBD can be added to various foods and snacks to suit everyone, from honey to salad dressings and even ice cream, allowing you to experience the benefits of CBD through various sources.

CBD snacks can be great for those of you always on the move, providing on-the-go relief and potentially helping to calm anxiety and relieve feelings of tiredness. When it comes to making snacks and baked treats, be aware that although CBD can be added to almost any recipe, it should be used alongside fats such as butter, vegetable oils, coconut oil and lard as you want the fats to dilute the CBD oil. Another top tip to add is to avoid recipes that require baking at a very high heat.

Sunburn struggles

We all get a bit excited when the sun comes out (we’re always mega eager to get our dose of vitamin D whenever possible). But a lot of us are guilty of getting a little bit too carried away, ending up with a case of lobster red shoulders and itchy sunburn. Try adding a few drops of CBD to your aloe vera to elevate your after-sun routine. The combination of aloe vera’s soothing characteristics and CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties will help relieve pain and soothe your sunburnt skin in no time.

Haircare

Holiday hair giving you trouble? A mixture of sun, salt and sand can take a toll on your hair, particularly when you’re on holiday or if you’re lucky enough to live in a warmer climate. Try adding a couple of drops of CBD to your conditioner and leave in for 5 minutes while you’re showering. It is said that the steam and heat may help the CBD penetrate your strands, resulting in the desired smooth and silky hair.

Last but not least…

The Pechoti Method

In other words, putting CBD in your belly button… Yep, that’s right! The Pechoti Method is based on the idea that you can absorb substances such as essential oils through your belly button. The thinking behind this one, is that a specific gland called the Pechoti gland in your navel allows this action to take place. There is, however, no evidence that this gland actually exists, so it is more like the Pechoti Myth. If you like the idea of experimenting with your CBD, feel free to try this method, but we cannot guarantee that you will experience any of the usual effects.

We’re pretty set on all the others though…
